big xyt announces Global Exchanges Directory to address complex market structure

“At big xyt, we realized that this information resides in our databases and that we could make it available as a free resource for the financial community to complement our analytical services.”

big xyt launched the Global Exchanges Directory to provide key information on 97 global exchanges and alternative trading platforms in seven regional categories.

The provider of intelligent data and analytics solutions designed the directory to solve the problem of increasing complexity for market professionals who regularly use global markets, the Global Exchanges Directory helps traders and others working in financial markets to better understand the structure of the local market.

Users can easily navigate the mosaic of different time zones, trading calendars and market times they need to know on a daily basis via an interactive world atlas.

The directory includes highlights of primary and alternative trading platforms by country, along with their ISO MIC codes, type of platform, trading currency, time zone, daylight saving time period, trading hours and holiday schedule.

bing xyt plans to add market statistics such as average daily volumes, delivered to the directory via a live wholesale xyt feed, a blog, a news section, the ability to upload important holidays to add to calendars and the addition of more trading venues.

The project was carried out in collaboration with students from the University of Cambridge through their Cambridge Consulting Network (CCN), who carried out a feasibility study and established the baseline requirements for the service.

Richard Hills, head of client engagement at big xyt, commented: “With so many trading platforms around the world, it is difficult to keep up with the constantly changing structure of the market. This is especially true when trading baskets outside of your home region. At big xyt, we realized that this information resided in our databases and that we could make it available to the financial community as a free resource to complement our analytical services. By bringing data together on a single, easy-to-navigate website, we can save users from having to scour the Internet to find the information they need.

“It was great to work on the project with the SCC students, who represented an extraordinary diversity of international knowledge. It took a lot of work to put together the initial baseline data and I want to thank the team for their input and help. We are very proud of what we have been able to deliver and believe it will be an important resource for many in the trading and investment community for many years to come.

This data is essential for trading companies and any process that relies on the analysis of tick data, is easy to navigate and locate quickly, and is grouped by region and country.

The directory complements big xyt’s flagship product, the Liquidity Cockpit, which provides trading companies, brokers and exchanges with security measures for all listed products for equities, ETFs, futures and options, on all major trading platforms worldwide.
