Fortnite Chapter 3 Chest Locations: How to Open Chests and Collect Gem Fragments

Chests have been present in several Fortnite seasons before, and they are back in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1. Several challenges this season involve chests, such as collecting gem shards outside of Seven Vaults or opening chests with other players. They contain a ton of awesome loot and powerful new weapons, but getting inside can be tricky. You also won’t be able to open them alone, so you’ll need to play as a duo, trio, or squad to enter. Here is where you can find all chests in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1.

All Fortnite Chapter 3 Chest Locations

There are 7 chests scattered across the map in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1, and each of their locations are listed below:

  • Northwest of Logjam Lumberyard
  • Near the river northwest of Camp Cuddle
  • Southwest of Greasy Grove
  • On the southeast side of the lake west of Coney Crossroads
  • Northeast of the Daily Bugle
  • On an island east of the Sanctuary
  • Along the road south of Condo Canyon

You can also see each of the vault locations on the map below. They’re spread pretty evenly across the map, so you shouldn’t have to travel too far to find one, regardless of your preferred landing spot.

How to Open Chests in Fortnite

To open a safe, you will need the help of other players. All chests are sealed with a group lock that requires two or more people to open. If you have enough people on your team, all you need to do is stand near the party lock until the vault door opens. Chests open slowly and make a lot of noise, so be on the lookout for other squads trying to steal your new treasure.

Each chest contains several Seven Chests, which contain some of the best loot in the game. These are essentially like the IO Chests and other rare chests from previous seasons. There are a ton of new weapons in Chapter 3, and chests are a great place to find most of them.

How to Collect Gem Fragments from Seven Chests

To complete Shanta’s quests in Chapter 3 Season 1, you will need to collect Gem Fragments from various locations around the map. One of Shanta’s quests requires you to collect gem fragments from Seven Vaults, and it’s a relatively simple process.

Gem Fragments are floating blue crystals that can be collected by running through them. There is a Gem Fragment in each of the chests, but you only need to collect six to complete the quest.

fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.
