IRI Voracity Data Vault Migration Assistant Named Flagship Product of 2022

MELBOURNE, Florida., January 20, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Database Trends and Applications (DBTA) Magazine felt that updating the Data Vault Migration and Build Wizard in the IRI Voracity® Data Management Platform a “Leading Product in Data and Information Management for 2022”. The wizard is designed to ease Data Vault adoption by moving the relational database schema and data into the Data Vault 2.0 (DV2) architecture, creating referentially and business correct test data, and mapping the entities and relationships of the table.

DV2 is a hybrid data modeling methodology leveraging 3NF and a star schema to represent historical data from multiple sources and adapt to environmental changes. First published in 2000 by Dan Linstedt, DV2 applies a robust data integration architecture to a database using “a set of standardized, detail-oriented tables, historical tracking, and unique linking that support one or more functional areas of the business” .

Voracity is an Eclipse™-based data management software platform for bringing together data from multiple sources. It executes, accelerates and combines key activities in data discovery, integration, migration, governance and analytics using the power of IRI CoSort or Hadoop® data transformation engines. Voracity also includes IRI RowGen components to produce safe and referentially correct test data.

International Innovative Routines (IRI) first introduced the Voracity DV2 Data Migration Assistant at the 2019 Worldwide Data Vault Consortium Conference. IRI has since improved the efficiency and usability of the wizard, allowing database users to quickly:

  1. convert RDBMS models to a compatible DV2 model that also conforms to Snowflake DDL;
  2. replicate production data in the DV2 scheme; and or,
  3. populate a prototype DV2 database with realistic and referentially correct test data, while providing options to customize and schematize satellite tables and business key assignments.

According to the editor of DBTA Joyce Wells, “the world has changed, and with it the data needs of enterprises,” as confirmed by research reports published last year by Unisphere Research, a division of Information Today, Inc. DBTA reader research has focused on “new approaches to managing and storing data, leveraging that data for enterprise applications and information, and protecting that data.”

“We believe this wizard is a great benefit for Data Vault users,” remarked IRI’s Software Solutions Manager. Lisa Mangino. “With this wizard, DV2 architects can take advantage of CoSort’s proven VLDB data movement and manipulation power, Voracity’s rich database administration, ETL data workflow environment, and testing, and proven subset, masking, and data summarization capabilities.”
