Kaitlin Heri wins the pole vault at the Beach Invitational

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Aztec track team wrapped up the final day of competition this weekend at the Beach Invitational. Two Aztecs set top 10 all-time records on Saturday and several athletes set new PRs throughout the competition.

Kaitlin Heri continued his impressive run of form with another PR on Saturday afternoon in the pole vault. The senior won the invitational gold and punted 14-00.50, a new PR, which tied her for the fourth-highest clearance in San Diego State history. His clearance of 14-00.50 is the fifth-highest in the West Region and the 12th-highest in the nation this season. Ashley Callahan continued her freshman campaign in the event with a 13-03.75 punt, which tied her for second.

Erica Grotegeer also entered the record books on Saturday. In the discus, Grotegeer threw 169-06, to finish ninth overall in the competition and rank ninth all-time in SDSU history.

Over the past four days of competition at the Mt. Sac Relays, Bryan Clay Invitational and Beach Invitational, the Aztecs have established six all-time top 10 finishes. San Diego State saw athletes place in the top 10 in the 400m, 800m, two in the 1,500m, pole vault and discus throw.

The Aztecs are back on the track in two weeks, at the Steve Scott Invitational hosted by UC Irvine on April 29-30 and the Desert Heat Classic on April 30 hosted by Arizona.
