Vault Comics today announced that legendary artist Robert Wilson IV will join the creative team as an artist for the highly anticipated a shot, Barbarian: Harvesting Blades.
Wilson IV is the co-creator and artist of Falling for something with the writer Christophe Sebela and colorist Nick Filardi. He also co-created Knucklesheads with Brian Winkeler and like a virus with Ken Lowery. Moreover, he was the artist of female dog Planet #3 and is also active in the poster community, making concert posters for bands such as METALLICA, THE MOUNTAIN GOATS, DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979, THE SWORD, etc.
“I loved the first one. Barbaric series, so it was a real treat to work with Michael [Moreci], Nat [Gooden], addison [Duke], and the rest of the Vault team,” said Wilson IV. “Barbarian: Harvesting Blades is my first foray into fantasy and Michael’s screenplay left me wild. I’ve never drawn (or maybe even read?) a comic so full of blood, guts, monsters, humor and heart, it was an absolute blast!
“Robert is one of those rare artists who can elevate everything he touches and brings to Barbaric is such a fun and vibrant extension of Nate’s already great creation,” added Moreci. “He’s the perfect artist to be the first to carry the Barbarian staff while Nate works on the next volume. I can’t wait for people to see the gory enthusiasm he brings to Owen, Soren and Axe! “
“I am so excited to have Robert Wilson IV as part of the Barbarian team,” said Goode. “Its bold lines are exactly what the world of Barbaric needs as it grows. Loud and in your face! This is what Robert is able to capture perfectly in harvesting blades. Get ready to clap, cringe and laugh!
Barbarian: Harvesting Blades one-shot will hit stores on June 29. jim campbell and designer Tim Daniel complete the team. The full synopsis can be read below:
Like a punch in the private, Barbaric is back! Bloodier and more irreverent than ever. In this one-shot, Owen, the barbarian cursed to do good, is forced out of hiding and back to his old BS! A whole lot of violence, ethically approved, of course, by his moral compass, the Talking Axe! Find out for yourself why Entertainment Weekly, Thrillist, Screen Rant and a whole bunch of others called BARBARIC one of the best comics of 2021.
The first of many one-shots that further explore the world of Barbaric, whose second arc, Ax To Grind, arrives in July!
